Good morning, everyone,
Well, two weeks ago I said that I hoped you wouldn’t get another email until March 5th. Here we are!
We’ve completed the 14 day waiting period after the last positive case was resolved. The official ‘outbreak’ status can now be lifted! We’re also encouraged that residents received their second dose of the vaccine this past Wednesday.
We thank the Lord for His continued provision throughout this challenging winter. I also need to acknowledge the hard work of our staff and the overall team effort by our residents & their families to take this on together. It certainly has not been easy.
There are some things that we can look forward to next week:
1) The Dining Room will be opened on a limited basis on Monday
2) Marty’s Store (basic groceries and treats) will open next week
3) Recreation activities will also begin on a small scale
4) No weekly swabbing of the entire building
While it’s encouraging to see signs of spring, the lifting of outbreak, and overall progress in this COVID-19 battle, I do need to emphasize that we are still not close to life being back to normal. Caution and patience need to still be the overall tone to how we approach the next few months. Masks and distancing are still required, in-suite visiting is still limited to the two Designated Support Persons, and we all need to remain as vigilant as ever to keep COVID at bay.
The reality is that we could have a positive case come up tomorrow, next week, or next month, and we would reset the whole clock and start over. I’m not trying to be the bearer of bad news, but I want to be clear on where things are at! If anything changes on site, or if there are any more significant developments in working towards getting back to normal, I will be sure to be in touch.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement over the past few months. We’re all in this together!
In His grip,
