December 14 Update

Good afternoon, everyone,

I hope you have had a good weekend and start to your week!

At Emmanuel Home, things continue to trend in the right direction. We have not received any positive tests since November 23rd. Our last rounds of testing have all come back clean, and for this we are truly thankful!

Based on these results, we will not be testing the full building again this week. As long as things continue on this track, we are simply waiting for clearance from the Medical Officer that we can officially lift the ‘outbreak’ status. This may not be until December 19th, as there are so many moving pieces involved, but overall this is great news!

The fact that we can be on this side of a COVID outbreak and looking forward, without having lost anyone, is truly a blessing where we acknowledge the Lord’s provision and faithfulness throughout.

The last month has not come without a cost, though. As you know, residents are feeling the distance and space that the outbreak has caused. And, contrary to early November, we are now under much more critical pressure in the general public, as well. The expectations of each of us to not socially gather in people’s homes or outside, limit our activities to only essential tasks, and overall protect each other and our systems from more pressure still apply.

We will be taking a cautious approach over the next couple of months in how we slowly recover from the outbreak. If restrictions change, or the circumstances warrant an update, we will most certainly keep you posted.

In the meantime, we continue to ask that all DSPs stay home if there are any symptoms or known exposures. Besides our staff who are doing everything they can to be vigilant, the visitors who do still come in to the building are the biggest risk. Thank you for all of your continued support and encouragement!

Please do not hesitate to contact us if there are any questions or concerns, and if we can help in any way.

In His grip,

Darren Sinke
