December 22 Update

Good morning, everyone,

I’ve attached 3 documents to this email, and I encourage you to read through them as they help explain how we all need to approach the upcoming Christmas and New Years’ holidays.

This is such a difficult time, and documents that outline protocols and restrictions only adds to the burden. I appreciate how challenging this is for our residents and their loved ones to navigate!

The three documents are:
1. A Q&A document to help explain the restrictions. This will hopefully help you determine what the best way will be to support your loved ones over the holidays.
2. A letter from Dr. Hinshaw addressed to Families of residents in continuing care settings.
3. A letter from Dr. Hinshaw addressed to Residents
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions!

Elsewhere, the testing of all residents and staff will happen again today. We have three more confirmed cases in our residents, in addition to the staff member I mentioned yesterday. These three residents were tested earlier last week due to symptoms and have been isolating since. Unfortunately, as of this morning and without knowing for certain, it appears that the four cases stem from three different sources of transmission from outside the building. As things become clearer over the next week, we will most certainly update you all on the status.

Thank you for your continued involvement in doing everything we can to protect our community. I’m slightly encouraged by the dip in numbers in Edmonton over the past few days, but, as we all know, we aren’t out of the woods yet!

In His grip,

Darren
