November 13 Update

(This email is being sent out to the loved ones of Emmanuel Home Residents)

Good morning, everyone,

I’m sure that you all have been keeping up with the latest news and updates on COVID-19 in our province and city. While Emmanuel Home has managed to stay clear of COVID-19 to this point, we need to continue to be vigilant as the pressure grows on our health care system.

As Dr. Hinshaw has emphasized, we all need to limit our social gatherings in order to mitigate the risks to not only ourselves, but also our loved ones. In light of the current realities, we will be temporarily suspending the use of the Visiting Rooms. While we are thankful that the rooms made visits possible with loved ones that aren’t the Designated Support Persons, we need to be cautious with how much interaction Emmanuel Home facilitates. We will review the situation in a month, and communicate to you any changes in the availability of these spaces.

We are also asking that non-essential visits (ie. Off-site, outdoors, etc.) continue to be limited as much as possible. Residents are asked to be mindful of any non-essential outings and unnecessary risks.

Designated Support Persons are certainly still welcome to come and support their loved ones, as long as all required precautions are taken both at home and here at Emmanuel Home.

Thank you all for your continued commitment to protect each and every one of our residents! Yes, we’re tired, and yes, we grieve the distance and space in relationships that has been caused by the entire COVID-19 battle. However, we also find rest and hope in the Lord’s faithfulness and continued blessings. He is good!

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Have a great weekend,

Darren
